The National
Community Service Commemorative silver dollars were struck in accordance with legislation
passed by Congress and signed by the President on September 29, 1994, as Public Law
103-328. These coins were struck at the United States Mint and are legal tender of
the United States. The design of this coin is based on an original work by Augustus
Saint-Gaudens.
